My comments on tutoring ADD/ADHD: I have ADD myself and would like to help children with and without this disability.

I am more of a hands on,and mainly a lot of visuals as well as worksheets. Sometimes I use music, artists, sports and current events as a reference. Every since I was little, I realized that I wanted to help others. I taught a bunch of young female children about field hockey. I have tutored my cousins in all of the areas listed and it helped them with their studies and their education. While I tutor, I like to have music playing in the background softly. I am available during the academic school semesters and the rest of the remaining summertime. I do have a full time job, and the only time that I am available now would be after 1 pm to about 6 pm throughout the week and weekend.

As a literacy-based educator, I have served 12-years as an elementary teacher, including 5 years as a literacy coach/consultant supporting, guiding and modeling on behalf of new, veteran teachers and support staff to improve all students' learning outcomes. I consider myself an excellent communicator and lifelong learner as well as a committed, caring educator. I prefer working as a collaborative team with teaching staff/specialists. I believe most of my success comes from continued conversations and ongoing discussions about best practices during staff meetings and professional development workshops. I believe if we can integrate content with cross-curricular themes and skills such as writing across the curriculum in all subjects, not just during the language arts block, All students can access prior knowledge and reframe their thinking when appropriate. Once we establish accountabilit

I am eager to get back to teaching. I love to work with children and I know it is a gift from above. I use many hands on techniques to help my students learn. I also observe my students to see what technique of teaching reaches them best. I use the method that is needed. After, graduation I was an Ed Tech III. Assisting in reading and math. I love teaching and working with all children. My passion is to work with children in the natural environment of their homes and in the context of their family lives. I am patient, kind, reliable and consistent. I am a firm believer in teaching through discovery and in providing a constructivist approach to learning. I believe all children can meet their potential if they are given the appropriate surroundings and learning experiences. I strive to make a difference in all of my students' lives while partnering with families to achieve goals we set together in the best interest of the learner. One of the first graduates of a dual degree program from Lesley College(www.lesley.edu),I received a BS/MEd in Early Childhood Education specializing in Early Intervention in 1999. Beginning in June of 1999, I raised my three children full-time. During that time, I worked part-time as a Therap

I have worked with students who were given up on years before, but once the met me, they evolved and became what so many said they never would become, educated.Vgotsky talked about the zone of proximal development and potential. I believe I teach to reach the highest level of potential and often come very close. I am a fantastic Highly Qualified Educator who gives all I have and then finds where to get more when I run out of ideas. The school of Education in North Carolina prepared me well. I am above all flexible. My license reads K-8 and I have taught Art K-6 for a year, Second Grade for two years in NC. Then in 2001 I taught Title One reading in TN for a year then Fourth grade for three more years. My family moved to Northern VA and I taught Fifth grade there for two years before moving back to TN for a year where I taught 8th grade Algebra, and 7th grade

I feel very strongly about the importance of a good education. Having a degree in English, I have much experience in using proper grammar, technical writing skills and creative writing skills. I have tutored students in the area of English, biology, history and some spanish. I have always loved working with children. Through my experience as a special education instructor, I have learned children can learn in a variety of ways. My teaching philosophy is that each child has different strengths, and it is imperative to tailor an educational program to these strengths. By highlighting what a student is good at, their confidence is increased. This confidence will help them overcome academic obstacles. I believe that teachers play a huge role inthe success of their students, and that with the right support system, any child can acheive their academic goals.

To whom it may concern, I have taught as a classroom teacher, a Title I teacher, and as a special education teacher. All of these experiences have given me skills I use as a teacher. I have a love of books and enjoy sharing them with children. I have always enjoyed working with children. I enjoy watching their faces when the lesson I am teaching suddenly makes sense to them! I am a strong believer in communicating with parents and working with them to best meet the needs of their children. I took a graduate course called Maine Literacy Partner: Good First Teaching. This course really helped me focus on my guided reading lesson plans. Sincerely, Kristen Clukey I think it is important to understand that everyone can learn, however it is just a matter of how long it takes. Kids learn at different paces. They may need to be shown a different way to learn. For exampl

I have loved working with children since I was a teenager. Especially with my experience with children with special needs, I believe all children can learn and I want to help all children have academic success. I firmly believe that all children can meet their potential if they are given the appropriate instruction and a positive environment. I strive to make a difference in every child's life that I work with. I have always been interested in teaching others, in particular, teaching children with special needs. The majority of my experience teaching is teaching children with special needs including many children with autism. The degrees I have earned in Psychology and Special Education have allowed me to gain an understanding in many areas, including social sciences, education, science, social studies, etc. I also have learned many grammatical skills due to writing research papers

I am a determined, enthusiastic, and highly motivated person that enjoys being challenged and working with children. I take great pride in being a teacher and being part of a child’s life. I believe it takes more than a single individual to make a difference in the life of a child. In my experience working with children, I have seen the value, benefits and the importance of including other colleagues, administrators, parents, and the community into a child’s learning. I can encourage each child to achieve their highest level of success by including all of these resources in their education. I graduated from Wheelock College with a double major in Human Development and Elementary Education. Working with children has always been an interest of mine and something I enjoy doing. Over the past six years I have had a variety of experience teaching children of all ages. I have taught thi

While attending Bates College, I was motivated academically to achieve the best education possible. I sought out teachers who inspired me to work harder and enjoyed participating in chapel services, community service activities and participating in competitive sporting events. During school vacations, I explored jobs that followed my academic strengths. To date, I have earned two degrees, a BA in English from Bates College and a M.Ed. in Curriculum Development from Lesley University. I am certified to teach 6-12 in the state of Florida and 7-12 in Maine, and learned the art of creative nonfiction writing applying this skill later to community news reporting. In addition to writing as a staff and freelance reporter, I have tutored English, the arts, writing, middle school math and marine science As a writer, I spent my early years refining my grammar skills and continued on this path in c

I first determine the student's learning style so I have an idea what works for him or her. Learners who have experienced repeated failure need successful experiences to help build self-confidence; I start with what they can do successfully already. Knowing the individual's interests and talents helps me tie the topic to something important to the student, and to help them understand how the topic relates to their present and future lives. Finally, helping the individual understand how she or he learns is the key that will allow him or her to take control. I help the student identify strategies and systematic ways to problem-solve so that she or he can develop independence. As a music therapist, I learned to apply my creativity to design instruction that allows the learner to be actively and successfully engaged in learning. As a special educator, I learned to quickly problem-solv

Improving the lives of children has always been a passion of mine. While my academic background has had a focus, primarily, in the social work realm, my overall philosophy for working with youth emphasizes patience and education. I have sought opportunities working with both young children and adolescents. My interest began when I tutored elementary age children during my high school career. Since then, my experiences range from being a school social worker, to teaching anger management group therapy to adolescents, to encouraging education among the youth in my community. My academic interests lie across all subjects, but I have always had a particular fondness for mathematics. I believe that education is the most efficient way to combat any issue. I, therefore, feel that it is essential for youth to find success throughout their academic journey. I approach work with youth from

My mission is to guide each student to become caring and responsible citizens. Students learn what they live and therefore, I treat each student as an individual, with respect, patience and kindness. I teach students to appreciate each others’ differences and to be proud of their backgrounds and heritages. I create high expectations for each student in all interactions throughout the day. I want to help each student reach their goals inside and outside of the classroom by helping them acquire the skills and knowledge they will need throughout life. I believe every student has the ability to succeed if they are given the chance. I need to know all of my students and recognize that they may all learn differently.
