Experience Summary
To whom it may concern,
I have taught as a classroom teacher, a Title I teacher, and as a special education teacher. All of these experiences have given me skills I use as a teacher. I have a love of books and enjoy sharing them with children.
I have always enjoyed working with children. I enjoy watching their faces when the lesson I am teaching suddenly makes sense to them! I am a strong believer in communicating with parents and working with them to best meet the needs of their children.
I took a graduate course called Maine Literacy Partner: Good First Teaching. This course really helped me focus on my guided reading lesson plans.

Teaching Style
I think it is important to understand that everyone can learn, however it is just a matter of how long it takes. Kids learn at different paces. They may need to be shown a different way to learn. For example, I believe that children learn to read by understanding the book,through meaning. It's important to discuss what is happening in the book. I have a guided reading lesson plan that tells me exactly what I need to work on with that student. Is the student looking at the pictures to help him/her with a word? etc.. I am very patient and kind. I love working with kids and seeing their faces light up when they have achieved certain goals.
