I have just received my BA in E-Business management with a minor in Criminal Justice. I am beginning my Masters in Criminal Justice in March and will continue to a Dr. in the same field when possible. I do not have professional experience teaching however I have experience tutoring my niece who I have been responsible for since she was 5. She is now 12 and a straight A student. I tutored throughout school and was a teachers aid in Elementary school. I have 2 young boys of my own who will beginning school next year. I have tutored in writing, K-5 math, science and history. I also have tutored in Music including theory and playing. (Piano, Oboe, English horn, Trumpet, drums, guitar and a few other instruments)

I have been told by my first year teaching mentor that my style of teaching is "unconventional". Although I majored in English, I had a concentration in creative writing and a minor in visual arts. I think of writing as an art, and so I use creative methods in the classroom to teach students. I believe our youth's attention span is getting shorter and shorter due to television/media and modern day technologies. As a teacher, it is imperative that you hold the child's interest. I believe in incorporating these technologies into the classroom, and relating material in the easiest terms and to things they already know. I want to empower others to have confidence and achieve something they can be proud of; to give them a healthy sense of self-worth. Each person thinks and analyzes differently. I will identify how each student learns best and then turn around and communicate information to them in relation to those strengths. I will be flexible to what the student requires to understand a concept rather than try to conform the student's thinking pattern to that of the teacher's. Every child is different, but one thing all children need is some patience and motivation that they can do it. I am easy going and have great qualities to be there for children like I am for my own. I love to help children and anyone who needs help.
I have a degree in Criminal Justice. I have always been a good student. I have never directly taught children, but I have 2 kids who I help everyday with their homework and they are in junior high and are in all advanced classes. Since I feel that I am a great motivator and know how to study for certain things, I show my kids the encouragement they need and now I feel I can offer this to other kids as well.
