A Little Bit About Me...

I was an in-school suspension teacher for two years at Durand High and Middle School, helping students get caught up on their pre-algebra, social studies, science, English and Spanish homework. Previously to becoming a teacher I worked in industry as a project manager or assistant for different companies, using Spanish occasionally. I student taught in 2004 at Hononegah HS, one semester at Auburn High School before being hired at Durand High School. I taught there for four years and took a job in 2008 at Christian Life High School where I am currently employed during the school year.
I prefer to see what the learning style of the student is and then adapt my teaching style to the student.

I enjoy working with children and always have. I feel my teaching style is more in the Socratic method in that I like to ask them questions until they come to the answer themselves because I feel that increases the retention rate of the subject. Additionally, I like to take the concepts that are being taught and give them real world applications and examples to make the learning more relevant.
Throughout high school and college I volunteered at a local summer theater workshop for children. A Little Bit About Me...

I've always loved languages. In high school I started studying German, Spanish and French. At the university level, I continued with German and Spanish (majoring in both), and also took two semesters of Portuguese. I studied abroad twice, spending a year in Bonn, Germany, and a semester in Buenos Aires, Argentina. On the local level, I've tutored Spanish and conversational English.
