I prefer to see what the learning style of the student is and then adapt my teaching style to the student.
I was an in-school suspension teacher for two years at Durand High and Middle School, helping students get caught up on their pre-algebra, social studies, science, English and Spanish homework. Previously to becoming a teacher I worked in industry as a project manager or assistant for different companies, using Spanish occasionally. I student taught in 2004 at Hononegah HS, one semester at Auburn High School before being hired at Durand High School. I taught there for four years and took a job in 2008 at Christian Life High School where I am currently employed during the school year.

A Little Bit About Me...

I was president of our NHS chapter in high school and through our NHS chapter, I was an active tutor. Through my 4 years of college and student teaching, I have worked with a variety of students from all backgrounds and ability levels. I am a licensed educator, and am currently a substitute teacher in Northwest Illinois.
I am an energetic and highly dedicated person. I am an advocate for constructivism, so I plan on creating an environment where my role is facilitating, challenging, and nurturing your student's learning. A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy working with children and always have. I feel my teaching style is more in the Socratic method in that I like to ask them questions until they come to the answer themselves because I feel that increases the retention rate of the subject. Additionally, I like to take the concepts that are being taught and give them real world applications and examples to make the learning more relevant.
Throughout high school and college I volunteered at a local summer theater workshop for children. In this program I started out as a teen counselor and moved on to be an adult helper and play director. Also, I worked for a summer as a camp counselor for the Freeport Youth Summer Program where I led children in games and some educational programming. In college I acted as an informal tutor and study buddy to classmates.
