Knowing that all students learn in different ways, I do my best to provide multiple ways of teaching concepts that students find difficult. I believe in inquiry based learning. While some student’s questions require a direct answer, others can more effectively be answered with a question. I try to find ways to redirect a student’s lack of understanding in a direction that they do understand, and then build upon that knowledge to fill in the gaps they may have. This builds on a student’s ability to think through problems and develop the ability to problem solve on their own which is what they would have to do in the classroom. There is no better moment that when a child becomes engaged and starts understanding and asking questions. Once a child starts asking questions you know that they are excited about it and want to learn. When teaching my goal is always to get children excited about what they are doing and then proceed from there. All children have different strengths and I try to work from those strengths.
