I earned a degree in Biology, which has fully equipped me for tutoring to children who have difficulties in any subject, but especially science. By being a Biology major I was exposed to all types of seminars, scientific research, labs and other various types of learning implements that have been beneficial in my teaching practices. In the past two years I have privately tutored two children from the ages of 5 and 7. I have tutored them in every subject from reading, and math to science projects. I have also worked at a preschool Kehillah Jewish Preschool with 4 and 5 year olds preparing them for kindergarten, which included phonics, reading, writing, number and letter recognition, pre-math skills such as measuring and sorting.

I began 'teaching' as the head wakeboarding instructor at Coble Ski School in Lillington, NC, when I was a junior in high school. Shortly thereafter I took a position working at a beach resort in Pensacola, FL, where I spent an entire summer instructing surfing, kayaking and sailing. At Duke I tutored during each of my four years, either biweekly at a local Durham elementary school or at the Emily K Family Life Center. As the child of a school system administrative professional, I have always spent extra time in the school environment. As a high school freshman I began to tutor elementary school students based on the needs highlighted by their teachers. I spent a lot of time working one on one with English as a secound language students. I assisted with their writting, reading, and basic math skills. Additionally I work particularly well with withdrawn children who need special attention.
My teaching style is simple. As it has not been professionally nurtured I have taken my ques from those I have taught. It is simply to provide what is needed. A Little Bit About Me...

Since I am an engineering student, I have always been interested and excelled in math and science, so I have tutored many kids in all areas of science and mathematics. I have also tutored in Spanish and French. Last year, I worked with a young man who had dyslexia. I have helped kids of all ages, whether at the elementary, high school, or collegiate level.
I am a very patient person, a trait which I believe is very beneficial for a tutor to possess. I am always patient when teaching, and in doing so have succeeded in getting my point across. I like to pass on small tricks and acronyms that I have came up with for many things, some of which I have still retained to this day for my own personal use, not just for school work.
