I have been involved in various aspects of teaching and tutoring for the past 14 years. I have tutored students one-on-one for reading, writing, and math, and have taught private music lessons for voice (since 2005), violin (since 2005), and piano (since 2004). As far as I can remember I have always appreciated quality education. As a small boy I remember going to the small local library in Portsmouth, Virginia where the Librarian once said that she knew that if she would only have one patron for the day that it would be me. My approach is to encourage students to define their learning goals and then to discover how the learning the content can help them achieve their goals. I like to use real life examples to help students recall what they have learned. I am less interested in rote memorization. I tend to be structured and patient.
