I am a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a degree in Criminal Justice. As former ringmaster for the Greatest Show on Earth, I have performed more than 2000 shows with Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey Circus. Most of my experience comes from a professional hands-on approach in performing, costume designing and constructing. Although I had been temporarily enrolled in an art institute in Atlanta Ga, I am a self read, self taught muralist whose training has come from years of learning and perfecting my craft.

In my ten years of experience as a teacher I have accomplished many things of which I am proud. My second year of teaching I was asked to implement a reading intervention program district-wide. After two years of that, I started a school within a school for at-risk students. The last two years of my career I helped to pilot and then implement single gender classrooms school-wide. Four years ago I decided to pursue my National Board certification. I have my MAT as well. In addition to these things, I also sponsored Beta Club and Student Council for three years. I prefer to use a hands on approach to education. I like to have the kids get engrossed in the subject matter by reading aloud and taking part in discussion sessions. I believe in teaching through doing. When I taught German I conducted my class almost completely in German (the beginner level), and while this would seem difficult for the students to learn my students scored excellently on their tests. With enough support that they are capable of doing it and flexibility on the side of the teacher, a student can achieve whatever their goals may be, without having the bored of memorization.
