A Little Bit About Me...

I have dreamed of being a teacher since I was a little girl. I worked towards this goal and received my teaching certificate and then a job teaching 8th grade reading my first year teaching. I have since taught 6-8th English/Reading as well as 8th American History.
I have a love for children, teaching, and learning. This passion is what makes me reach out to help children. I am a firm believer in trying to reach the child through the best way he/she learns. I am creative in my ways of getting the material across using all our ways of learning. I know if I touch one childs life as a teacher then I am doing something good. My life has been filled with teaching and working with children. At the age of ninteen as a very young mother I felt a sense of duty in teaching my children how to achive higher than they can ever have imagined. I love to see the look of awe on their faces when they realize that they to can understand which ever subject that slips them. The rest is simple practice, practice, practice seals the deal. I project an image of someone who is willing and able to assist and teach...someone who really does care (of which I have been told many times by former students). I was a teacher of English for 30 years at three high schools in The Netherlands, my last job being a teacher/tutor at "Bisschopelijk College" (Episcopal College)in Weert Holland from 1980 to September 2005. I then emigrated to Texas and married an American in 2006. I taught students ranging between the age of 11 and 19 years of age. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style conforms to the learning style of the individual. Since no two people learn the same it is impossible to tutor the same way. I feel that once I have found a way to spark their interest and how they learn, it is much easier to help them acheive their goals and grasp the material. Many times the main goal is to teach the student how to learn, as many do not understand that function. Once they understand how they learn it becomes fun and easy.
