Trouble with Math? I can help !

I have teaching certificate and have been substitute teaching. I have 2 Masters degrees,in Mathematics and Education. I have taught at Sylvan Learning Centers and at 3 Community Colleges. I can work with students of all ages. I enjoy helping others learn and will ask a lot of questions to be sure my students understand the material.

I believe that a genuine interest makes the strongest foundation for education. Creativity and a sense of serious play clan create interest in "boring" subjects. A handful of wonderful marbles will draw the attention of children and adults with simple beauty and color. They can also be used to demonstrate important lessons in physics and probability. In fact, math and science exist primarily outside the confines of books. If the student can replace the textbook problem with inquisitiveness and interest, better learning will occur. I believe the best style, especially for tutoring, is to practice a lot. However, what make my teaching style successful is that when a student of mine does not succeed I can go through step by step and explain where he or she went wrong. Then we try again. I also like to offer plenty of examples and try to relate the problems to something that is easier to understand. This teaching style has been very successful with students in the past.
