I am a kenisthetic learner but when "hands on" is really not an option I (especially with mathematics) draw so that I have a visual, physical representation of the task at hand. I have never had formal experience tutoring. However Throughout my years of schooling I would participate in study groups which I see as everyone tutoring eachother. When teaching a math lesson I begin by going over skills already mastered that lead to the lesson at hand. After teaching the new material I then have the student try a similar problem while I watch. If necessary I coach them along, pointing out any problem areas. Then I require the student to try more of the same type of problems until he or she has mastered the new material. I normally try to find the method that best works with each pupil, then highlight on that. I also make sure not to do the work for the student.
