Experience Summary
I have been driven my entire life to assist others. I started working in the health care industry as a CNA, 1979. I then went to college and obtained my social work degrees. I worked in various settings to include nursing homes, mental health centers, prisons, adolescent group homes and currently home health care, 1987 to 2009. I am currently pursing additional nursing education, so I can combine my knowledge in the social work arena with nursing. Throughout my work history, I was responsible for educational components, with staff, families and communities. I also worked as an outreach instructor for a community college, teaching classes such as psychology to criminal justice.
Teaching Style
I love working with people and seeing them succeed. I tend to meet the person at the level where they are at, then adapt the lessons to their learning style. I am very creative and strive to make learning fun. I believe all people can meet and exceed the potentials that they set for themselves, if given the right tools. Their motivation is a vital key. Students need to see for themselves that they can succeed, whether this is something small or they complete the graduation requirements or degree of their dreams.
