I worked as a paralegal, parttime, for a lawfirm for awhile, then decided to take the Bar Exam in Florida. I took and passed the Florida Bar Exam in 2007. A Little Bit About Me...

I have completed all requirements for a Master of Arts degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I have taught mathematics, computer applications, life skills, and other subjects at high school and community college levels in Colorado. I have tutored and homeschooled statistics, college algebra, trigonometry, and other mathematics topics, and homeschooled a complete spectrum of high school level topics.
I believe in interactive teaching, where the student is as involved as the teacher. My satisfaction comes from watching students discover knowledge that they had previously thought unavailable. In adult corrections, I facilitated Addiction Treatment Counseling and Life Skills groups. When I worked in the foster care system, I taught Independent Living Skills to youth who were transitioning out of the system. All of these positions required extensive record-keeping duties and demanded strong writing skills.

I like to challenge my students to reach their potential. I realize there is a fine line between challenging and frustrating my students. I like for my students to figure out math problems on their own as much as possible. My teaching style is to model new material, do guided practice, and independent practice. Hopefully by the time they finish this process they have mastered the particular lesson.
I decided at the age of 38 to attend college and earn my BA of Education degree. I have worked with and coached young people most of my life on a volunteer basis. Teaching has always been one of my passions. I have worked with students with learning disabilities in my eleven years of teaching. I have taught all the core subjects from grades 3-12. I lived practically on my own since I was 14 years old, when my parents had to return to Venezuela. However, with hard work, resilience, constant effort and the help of good individuals, I have been able to succeed in the United States. I recently finished finishing my MA at the University of Florida where I worked as a graduate assistant.
