Math and Science Tutor high school to college age.

Tutored for about ten years as needed. Experience with high school and college math and science. I am working toward a nursing degree and intend to complete a degree in mathematics education for high school ages. My past tutoring experience has included all high school math and Calculus 1 for college, for science I have experience in tutoring chemistry primarily. However, I'm comfortable tutoring in anatomy and physiology if the need arises.
Flexible, I try to adapt the material to the student's learning style and needs. Emphasizing the points that they get, and using analogies to clarify the information as needed. I love working in small groups and seeing people "get it."

The most important thing to me in teaching anyone anything is finding out what level they are currently at. In order to learn something, take something in and understand it, one must have something already to attach it to in their minds. I like to adapt my teaching to the personality and learning style of whoever I am teaching, and think that a big part of teaching is help and encouragement. I have a very laid back attitude but feel passionately about problem solving - nobody is going to learn if they are not relaxed and at ease. A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy helping others learn. It is a compliment when someone asks for your help. After tutoring and substitute teaching for about 2 years, I have learned that students comprehend material in many different ways. I am able to sit down with each student and ask them how THEY comprehend the material. I then make it to where they are the tutor and teaching me how to learn, however I do teach them the material.
