As a Siena College graduate I developed a very hands on approach to active learning. Through classroom lecture and instruction I've completed the necessary coursework to complete my BS of biology. Due to my strong work ethic I've gained knowledge and skills in the physical sciences, as well as in other subject areas. During my college years I subbed as teacher at a public K-12 school. I am finishing up my Bachelors degree in Dietetics at SUNY Oneonta- I will be graduated in December. I have been offered positions as a chemistry tutor but denied because of my other jobs. I was a student mentor for a year in high school to students that were "slacking" or wasn't understanding one or more of their classes. I worked at Albany ARC and worked to train young adults and adults in the kitchen- which also included basic skills such as counting and reading.
I really would like to help make a difference in someone's life and help them understand academics just like myself. Tutors may also fall into the trap of simply giving the student the answers. For these reasons I prefer an holistic approach to tutoring.
