I majored in Journalism and minored in American History in college. Since then, I have worked in every aspect of journalism: TV and radio, public relations and marketing, newspaper reporting, magazine editing, advertising, direct mail, and websites. Most recently I received certification in Social Media and e-Marketing through the Chicago Career Tech Program and Tribeca Flashpoint Academy. In terms of teaching, I have tutored English to H'mong refugees and taught religious education in primary grades. I raised one son, who recently finished his master's degree in telecommunications. My teaching style consists of finding that unique style that will suit each individual student. Growing up, I noticed that it was very hard for certain students to grasp certain concepts because they were not engaged in the teaching method. It is no secret that everyone learns a certain way, and no two ways are ever the same. I believe that my patience, my calm demeanor, and habit of wanting to make learning something fun rather than a job has certainly helped me in my education. I also am a big proponent of having children set goals for themselves. Setting goals makes you work harder without feeling the pressure, and I've learned that once children reach that goal they will just want to go higher. One place I belong is teaching and working with children. Anyone that knows me and that has worked with me would probably say that. I don't teach right now due to a desire to develop a real estate career so that I can end up in the classroom. Having said that, I really enjoy teaching. I am patient as all students are different in their processings, experiences and personalities. I am energetic and funny as I find that is a great way to connect with children.
