Experience Summary
My most recent experience in teaching would be the year I spent in Seoul, South Korea. I began as a teacher and was soon the head teacher of the Kindergarten programs. Our kindergarten programs were a full day and full immersion for the students. I taught the middle school afternoon programs from ages 6-14 and at every level as well as in every subject. My most advanced students were fluent and therefore studied intensive subjects such as science, political history, geography and several others. We most intensely worked on writing and reading.
My college experiences were spent observing as a student teacher, tutoring hispanic immigrants, and eventually teaching a semester of high school spanish classes. As an education minor (Secondary Education) I have been trained in teaching all fields of education.
As a nanny for a large family in London, England following graduation, I spent every weeknight with the children, helping them on their homework. The UK is synonimous with high educational ideals and the amounts of daily homework for even young children reflected that theory. One of the children had severe ADD and our nights were spent focusing and working through the enduring homework task. I tutored subjects such as English (the Queen's English), History (Royal Empire history I didn't know perfectly, being an American), Science, Social Studies, Geography and Maths (pluralized in the UK).
Teaching Style
One place I belong is teaching and working with children. Anyone that knows me and that has worked with me would probably say that. I don't teach right now due to a desire to develop a real estate career so that I can end up in the classroom. Having said that, I really enjoy teaching. I am patient as all students are different in their processings, experiences and personalities. I am energetic and funny as I find that is a great way to connect with children. I have worked with all types of people, from severe attention deficit, to behavioral disorders, to utmost dislikes for specific subjects, to unresponsive. I honestly feel that I found a good way to work with all of them. I am still in touch with my students of the past and think that reflects how I might have made an impact on their lives. I find teaching the most rewarding, with the knowlege that most efforts will go unnoticed. I work with each student for their benefit and am flexible to use new methods so that the student finds his/her niche.
