Success is Feasible

In 2011 to 2012 I worked as a lead tutor for Academic Achievers in Muncie. My core focus was to improve writing skills. I would help students organize their thoughts into a structured document, and on occasion I would help build their vocabulary with five words of the week. Currently, I work at the Muncie Children's Museum where I create programs for children to exercise their motor and critical thinking skills in the visual arts and music.

My comments on tutoring Reading : I took Special Education courses to especially help with people struggling with reading skills. Since reading is such a necessary skill, I learned different techniques, such as Orton-Gillingham Phonetic Approach, Reading Recovery, and Whole Language Approach. I learned to incorporate not only phonics, but also 250 must-know sight words, context clues, and colr-codded words to help with reading difficulties. Everyone of my children learned to read in a slighly different way. So, I know learning to read is a personal individual response bsed on learning styles nad strengths and weaknesses.

I received my training from Cedarville University, Wright State University, Plymouth State College and Keene State College. I received my BA from Cedarville University in Elementary Education with an Emphasis in Special Education. I completed more training through a teacher mentor program through Plymouth State College to gain my Special Education certification in NH.
