For individualized instruction I mainly use a questioning process to lead individual students to discover how to process the math problems. This has them involved with building the solutions to the various problems and helps reinforce what they already know. I then instruct on the areas they do not understand or struggle getting this helps focus my efforts on their needs. While attending Caset Western Reserve University, a school well-know for its rigorous curriculum in the math and science fields, I took several educaiton0related courses. These courses offered both theoretical knowledge of the education system, as well as practical experience in creating and implementing lesson plans. I feel that since tutoring is typically a one-one-one interaction, each student needs a teaching style that is best suited for how they learn. For mathematics, the method that typically works the best is repetition. Repeatedly going through the steps needed to solve a math problem not only cements the process in the students’ brains but also helps them to understand how the numbers work into the problem in different situations.
