Chess is one of my top subjects! 2. I have designed and taught chess classes for both children and adults. The age of students ranges from about five years through senior adults. One-on-one personal chess instruction has also been provided for those age ranges as well. With long term experience, I have founded or co-founded successful scholastic and community-based chess clubs. Students with a wide variety of backgrounds and mental skills have been instructed on topics from the basics through tournament success. 3. Instruction development includes class material, forms and PowerPoint presentations. I have developed various techniques targeted to the audience to enhance their ease of understanding and enjoyment of the game. Documents designed include instructional materials, hand-outs, tests, problems sets, and other chess related items. 4. Personal chess background includes successes in tournament play and club competition. These have been at various time controls and under a variety of conditions.

My background is strong and diverse with extensive knowledge in many areas. Most, but not all of my career has been involved in management and information systems consulting. Successes include starting and operating successful businesses in three different fields with both bricks-and-mortar and internet operations. Everyone learns differently. I think by involving as many of your senses you are able to learn and retain information better. Teaching information and giving examples that are relavent to the student's life and experiences help teach the student that learning is important.The advances in technology and utilizing these resources are very important. Computer animation and pictures are amazing tools for any student, especially students that learn visually. The education system is going in the right direction by thinking outside the box. A Little Bit About Me...

Striving to make the student feel comfortable is part of my basic repertoire of teaching strategies. I know that when a student does not succeed in a typical classroom environment it is easy for the student to feel negative about learning. Our society is based on the 'cookie cutter' ideology one size fits all. So when I tutor I strive for the student to feel comfortable first. Then I observe the students way of learning and I tailor my style to fit the student. A Little Bit About Me...

In highschool I was in Advanced Placement Honors Classes such as Calculus and Science. I have earned two degrees, BA in Managment and MBA in Business Administration, which has enabled me to gain an understanding in many areas of business such as finance, marketing, econonmics, and organizational behavior but I have always enjoyed basic math such as alegebra. In addition, through my extensive writing of papers at the Masters level and Doctoral level I have learned extensive grammatical skills, literary techniques, MLA, and APA knowledge.
