My comments on tutoring Genetics : Received an A+ in Genetics at Clemson University in the Fall of 2010

I have a passion for teaching others and spreading my knowledge- I enjoy not only helping a student to understand, but to also become a mentor. I have been tutoring since middle school, and throughout high school. Since I have been in college, I have been eager to tutor again. My knowledge is mostly in high school and college biology, anatomy, and physiology. Throughout college, many of my friends and classmates came to me with questions or help, because I am good at simplifying the material and making it understandable on a basic level.
I am a visual learner and work well with other visual learners. I simplify the topic for the student for easy explanation and understanding, so we can then build upon the foundation for more in-depth understanding. I enjoy using diagrams and still have all of my resources from high school and college to utilize.

I do not have current experience teaching or tutoring for pay. I did some tutoring of high school students and fellow classmates while I was in college. Since then, I have been the "go-to" person in my family for help with math and science. I tutored one of my sisters in her classes at St Charles Community College. She graduated with an Associates degree in AutoCAD last year. I helped her with all her cad, math, physics, and engineering classes. From 2002 thru 2008, I tutored one of my nieces through her junior high and high school math and science classes. I feel there is a need for better understanding of math by students and feel I have a great deal to offer in this area. My 20 years plus experience in manufacturing and engineering that gives me insight into the mathematics that students will need in their careers.
I believe everyone can do mathematics. It just has to be explain ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate of a Health Science program at a competitive public university, Clemson University, I showed an understanding of many science disciplines. In the course of earning my BS in Health Sciences with a Concentration in Pre-Professional Health Studies, I became well versed in biology as well as chemistry. I have also demonstrated a passion for education as I wish to continue my own education in a masters program. I attended the School for Creative and Performing Arts in my home town. I have a skill for the Visual Arts and have had many years of Art History. I also read music and play the piano.
I love working with children and students of all ages. I was a volunteer at Shriners Childrens Hospital for many years in the recreational therapy department. I was a "class teacher" at a friend's daycare part time, and I held a summer job as a lifeguard and swim instructor for many y ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I am very patient and humble young lady. No child is the same as another, so therefore; they are unique in their very own way. I believe that every child can succeed, but they just need to be instructed in the right direction. I can provide that direction because I will be their compass to the world of understanding, knowledge, and discovery. Learning should be fun and exciting, but not tedious and boring. My students will be outgoing and will be the future lawyers, doctors, firefighters, and the best teachers.
I believe everyone has a gift from God. My gift is working with children, it brings joy and peace to my heart.I have a passion for working with children who really can not help themselves because they are either lost, not motivated, or scared.I just want to be an inspiration in their lives.

Many college freshmen struggle with Biology 101. While some universities have services to students, not all institutions are fortunate enough to give their students free access to tutoring. Therefore, I believe that it is important to set a solid foundation for the sciences in both middle and high school levels. Having the opportunity to tutor would allow me not only to share my knowledge and passion for biology, but also allow me to engage with younger peers. Tutoring is a two-way learning process not only for the student, but for the teacher as well. I consider myself a patient, understanding, and considerate person, and I will strive to meet the needs of any child's particular learning pace or style.
In May of 2010, I received my BS in Biological Sciences from the University of South Carolina. In addition, I have a cognate in Landform Geography. I hold a Academic Grade Poin ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I have a bachelor's degree in biochemistry from West Virginia University. I also played football in college and was active in tutoring fellow players. My course load was heavy in chemistry, physics, biology, and biochemistry. I have also taken the MCATs in preparation for medical school and scored a 36 (98th percentile), so I am also qualified to assist students in MCAT preparation.
I have a laid back style of teaching. I like to simplify difficult concepts and explain in different terms in order to help the student understand it. I am very good at presenting information in a different way in order to make difficult concepts easier.
