I currently work with special education students at a local school. I also work at an after school program to ensure educational activites during the after school hours. I Earned a double major from BHSU in 2008 for Sociology and Human Services with an empahsis in probation and Law enforcement. I enjoy working with kids of all a ages and skill levels! My passion is working with kids who are special education, or those who need more one on one time. Math was always a struggle for me so I enjoy working with kids who need extra support with math/algebra. I believe each child learns in their own way and it's extremely important to find their learning style and build from it. Each child has the ability to learn we just have to see things through their eyes in order to educate them!

My teaching style is on hands on and using lots praise for hard work. I enjoy working with others and seeing them succee. For the visual learner, they need to see things written down for it to stay with you. For the auditory learner, they hear sounds distinctly and can easily remember a song tune or lyrics; and for the kinesthetic learner, they like to learn by moving and possibly acting out things. I would have to find the persons style of learning and then apply which learning technique is most appropriate. I have experience in teaching others and have completed an internship grades k-4th when in College. I have taught religion classes, special ed classes and have children of my own that I have taught to read. My volunteer experience includes the following: Rapid City Regional Hospital. I am capable of adapting to the learning skills of the individual students with whom I affiliate. I substitute taught for nearly 3 years before I enrolled as a graduate student. I have several ways of motivating students to perform their best, and believe it is critical that they understand that they can master the methods of academic success. In the past 2 years, I have been a Masters in Counseling student, attaining a 4.0 GPA. I work with troubled students from 15-25 hours per week, and I have excellent grammatical and spelling skills. I am a publshed author, and I have an excellent grip of many general areas of education. My specific strengths are research and writing, as well as scholarly counseling psychology, and the law. I have a Bachelors, Masters, and Juris Doctorate, and can write on any number of subjects. I will receive my Masters in Mental Health Counseling in 2012.

Every child wants to learn. I believe they have the desire but need someone to point them in a direction that they can comprehend. I am a savvy and intelligent business woman. I have a vast knowledge of all subjects. I am available for elementary through high school tutoring in the basic subjects of reading, writing and mathematics. I am patient, kind, and understanding. I will apply these traits through my tutoring.
