While working to obtain a degree in Elementary Education at the University of Mississippi, I was able to experience a variety of tutoring and instructional techniques in the K-6 grades. Each semester I was assigned to specific grade levels that allowed me to work with instructors and students. I was given opportunities to tutor students throughout the semester through assignments, projects, and volunteering. I love working with students and seeing their joy when something finally clicks. I believe learning must be a concrete process with plenty for the students to touch and manipulate in order to succeed. It's impossible for a teacher to use only one strategy because children all learn different. To be effective, a teacher must get to know the students and figure out what helps them then stick out that path.
