Elementary Phonics is one of my top subjects!

I have high expectations of my adult students, but am understanding of the limited time most have. Therefore, I try to maximize class time and try to be flexible with scheduling. For my younger students, I prepare engaging lesson plans to foster a genuine interest in the subjects taught. My comments on tutoring Elementary Phonics : I have been trained in several phonics and reading programs including Spector Phonics and Wilson Reading. The phonics program helps with basic sound symbol association of the english alphabet in order to build words based on sound connection with the symbol or letter as opposed to rote memorization. I include a a word sight list for age or grade range.

Elementary Phonics is one of my top subjects! I love teaching phonics. In China, I even created my own phonics program for use in a Korean kindergarten. Phonics is critical to a child being able to decode new words. In addition to phonics, I also teach students other decoding strategies, such as chunking.

I've got around 8 years of college and university work under my belt, and I am getting ready to finish a BA in Elementary Education from Western Governors University. I love teaching. I got the teaching bug while teaching English as a Foreign Language in China. I taught there for almost 9 years altogether, 1 year in Beijing, 7 years in Tianjin, and 1 year in Taiwan.
