A Little Bit About Me...

In college I was able to tutor children in reading and math at Tucson Metropolitan Ministries. After I received my bachelor's degree in ecology and evolutionary biology (minoring in science education), I wanted to teach youth in an alternative setting. I taught for six months at Lutheran, Retreats, Camps and Conferences in California. I gained experience in hands-on teaching styles and how to provide concrete examples for abstract ideas. I understand that science, especially chemistry, is not intuitive to everyone. Quite often, chemistry can be related to real life phenomena or can be explained in ways that are more tangible to the young student. I strive to find those relations and teach science in that manner. Furthermore, my favorite teachers were those that made learning fun, not just repeatedly doing homework problem after homework problem.
