Many people could easily get good grades without applying studying or being in class. A Little Bit About Me...

I have been a teacher for 28 years. I am certified to teach elementary education, the learning disabled, and the deaf and hard of hearing. In addition, I possess intermediate level sign language skills. I have earned a BS in education and a MS in Education, both from Temple University. I work especially well with elementary school students in the areas of reading, language arts and math.
I'm really happy that I chose teaching as my life-long profession. After gaining my teaching certification with my MS, I taught history and geography in Alabama. After my Latin American Studies MA. I taught Latin, Greek, and Spanish. I do not believe in hierarchy. I think the teacher-student or tutor-student relationship should be one of equal footing and mutual discovery. This means asking questions together and seeking out the fundamental answers to questions. I think all children and adults deserve a place to learn about themselves and the world around them where they are free to ask any question and challenge any assumption. This does not mean I am a push over and cannot create structure in a lesson. A Little Bit About Me...

Each child is different. A good teacher helps each student meet their expectations while keeping the child interested in the subject matter. Each day my goal is the same, to get the most out of my students, and this can only be done when they are attentive and motivated. The best teachers I've had, and the one's I've gotten the most out of working with, have all had one thing in common; they cared about what they taught and even more so about those whom they were teaching.
As a student I studied languages, earning a degree in English and an extensive minor in French. During my time in college I spent innumerable hours tutoring both.
