During my course as a math tutor, I’ve found one on one tutoring to be most effective. Each child presented different needs and was receptive to different teaching methods, so I would meet with them individually. I believe each child is just as likely to succeed as the next one, and as a tutor, it is my job to encourage and instill confidence in them.

I tutored for Mission: Mentor while I attended Georgia State Universtity for 3 years. I was awarded Mentor of the Year in 2006 at Georgia State University. When I continued my education at Augusta State University, I volunteered as a mentor at the ASU Literacy Center helping children of all ages.
I love teaching children. For the younger children, I tend to be more hands on with projects and objects to help them learn. I also believe visual aids are very good. For middle school children learning math and English, I feel like giving them lots of practice problems and going over it together really seems to help. For students in high school it usually depends on the kid. By this age most of them have discovered if they are visual, kinetic, or auditory learners. I had my first experience with tutoring in an intensive summer program at Georgia Tech before my freshman year when a good friend and upperclassman helped me navigate my way through Chemistry and college life. I graduated from Georgia Tech in 2007 with a degree in Aerospace Engineering within a span of 3 years. I spent the next year earning a Master of Science in Medical Physics degree from the same institution and I am currently a medical student at the Medical College of Georgia.
