My teaching style is very hands on. I like to show the student how its done and make them repeat the process over until the concepts are understood. I also like the students to have choices and some sort of control over their own learning processes so that there is mutual respect amongst peers and myself. I evaluate the student and see where he/she stands and move forward in progressing their skill. Every instrument is different and difficult in its own way. I will teach the student the most productive way to practice by using the technique I learned by professors and professional musicians. For trumpet, I work on the embochure, and breathing. For violin, I evaluate the way the student holds the instrument including posture. I use a special tape to help guide with the notes which I use as training wheels, and take them down one at a time as the student progresses.
