A Little Bit About Me...

As an average person, I enjoy teaching children the values and importance of their education while befriending them and understanding where they are in relation to their social-emotional, physical, and educational development.
No two children are the same, and we know that this is correct, so therefore it applies to their learning ability as well. Some children need visual simulation to really ingrain the principle that is trying to be understood. While other's learn by complete repetition. My scholastic work includes a PhD in Mathematics and a MS in Electrical Engineering. I have taught and done research in mathematics for over 30 years and have tutored students at the high school and college level during the same period, as well as mentoring them in research projects. One of the more enjoyable aspects of my career was working with students in one-on-one tutoring situations. After receiving my BA in Math Education, I spent four years in aerospace engineering before beginning my career in teaching. I taught high school math for 3 years in a private school in the US then 2 years in a public school in an urban setting in Africa, where I adapted to teaching in another culture and language. After returning to the US, I taught evening college math courses as an adjunct for 9 years as well as tutoring in the drop-in center and by private arrangement.
