My comments on tutoring Geometry : I have experience with this subject and are comfortable tutoring.

With over 20 years of tutoring experience, I am able to help with many subjects and all ages. I have worked with students from kindergarten through college in many subjects. I have also tutored adults, worked with home-school children, and tutored in different test formats. Study skills is another area of experience.

I have recently "retired" my state certification (NH) for Secondary Education in Mathematics. I am currently an Adjunct Math Instructor at Hesser College, a division of Kaplan.

Also, I served as a physics T.A. at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute before I transferred to Waterloo. Most Math books recommend teaching for about half the class and then let students work some problems in class. I find this works well, it allows questions and the class becomes interactive. I encourge questions while I am introducing a subject and find it gives me a chance to use different examples to get a poinnt across. Any assignments I give outside the classroom can be addressed in the next class.
I started teaching right out of college. Taught high school and college part time for 6 years. Left teaching for the computer business where I worked for 36 years. Retired from HP in 2001. Went back to teaching. I taught at Mount Royal Academy in Sunapee, NH for 7 years. A Little Bit About Me...

I like to discover what my students already know about the topic and to expose any misconceptions. Brainstorming activities work well for me. I like to help define the topic in common terms, not the classic dictionary method. I use presentation, discussion, videos and hands on activities. Most of what I do is inquiry based.
I have a passion for teaching but waited until I gained some "real world" experience. I found that this has helped me relate to my students since I am able to make meaningful connections to their learning.
