I follow the "EDGE" method for teaching: Explain, Demonstrate, Guide, and Enable. I will explain the material, demonstrate it with an example, guide the student through working through a problem, and then enable the student to work independently while still being available for questions. I started teaching chemistry in 1964. During my child-raising years, I did a lot of substitute teaching in various subjects, and worked at part-time and temporary classroom teaching and tutoring. My longest position was at University of Massachusetts, Lowell campus, (1993 through 2004, before moving to Florida), teaching 3 different levels of Freshman Chemistry. I have tutored chemistry, math, and biology in Florida since 2007, as an employee of Advanced Learning Center, St. Petersburg, until 2011, and independently to the present time.
