I have twenty years of educational experience teaching Spanish on the secondary level, and other fourteen as an adjunct Spanish instructor for Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. Also during this time, I have the opportunity to work as an ELL (English Language Learner) coordinator for local school district on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
I sincerely believe my experience and knowledge will have a positive impact and influence in supporting and assisting students with listening, reading, writing, and speaking the Spanish language. My instructional techniques are individualized to meet the specific skills and concepts of the student. My comments on tutoring Spanish : I am not a fancy certified teacher. I don't speak Castilian Spanish, and I don't pretend that the Spanish that I speak is as formal as they speak in Madrid, but I am fluent, and I do know the language. I am new to the field of teaching, and trying to help others while I make a name for myself. I don't promise to make you fluent in Spanish overnight, but with interest and participation from you, I will teach you the Spanish that you need to accomplish your goals.

I teach mostly by rote. So, if you want an interactive lab, then I'm your man. Language is alive and meant to be spoken, not droned on about in a lecture.

I challenge students to overcome their difficulties and do not allow them to persist repeatedly in ignorance and misunderstanding. Rather, I require my students to learn and extensively practice even the most basic concepts until they are no longer problems, and this allows the students to move on to more complicated concepts, but, as needed, I patiently explain any concepts that are unclear. I remedy errors in morphology by requiring repetition of the correct forms, and by requiring the students to convert certain words into their other forms, reinforcing the various attributes of each form. Following the birth of my third child, I taught at her pre-school and caught the teaching "bug". I then completed a graduate program in Elementary Education, taught for one year in the public school system in Florida and then taught for one year in Alabama. This way no matter what the professor asks they will know how to answer questions and ace exams. If they just memorize things, they can get confused and get answers distorted.
