My comments on tutoring Spanish : I am not a fancy certified teacher. I don't speak Castilian Spanish, and I don't pretend that the Spanish that I speak is as formal as they speak in Madrid, but I am fluent, and I do know the language. I am new to the field of teaching, and trying to help others while I make a name for myself. I don't promise to make you fluent in Spanish overnight, but with interest and participation from you, I will teach you the Spanish that you need to accomplish your goals.

I teach mostly by rote. So, if you want an interactive lab, then I'm your man. Language is alive and meant to be spoken, not droned on about in a lecture.

I challenge students to overcome their difficulties and do not allow them to persist repeatedly in ignorance and misunderstanding. Rather, I require my students to learn and extensively practice even the most basic concepts until they are no longer problems, and this allows the students to move on to more complicated concepts, but, as needed, I patiently explain any concepts that are unclear. I remedy errors in morphology by requiring repetition of the correct forms, and by requiring the students to convert certain words into their other forms, reinforcing the various attributes of each form. I believe in teaching concepts and helping students fully understand ideals rather than students just memorizing facts. This way no matter what the professor asks they will know how to answer questions and ace exams. If they just memorize things, they can get confused and get answers distorted.
