A Little Bit About Me...

When I begin tutoring a new student, my first objective is for us to get to know each other. The student will not be able to receive very much from me until he/she is comfortable with me. Once they feel that I care, they open up and the learning really begins! When I really get a feel for the personality and whatever particular challenges are unique for this person in this class, I am able to determine the best way to communicate the subject and improve the skills. I like to think outside the box to find the best way for that student to have that "got it" moment!
Literally all my life I have been asked by students, parents and teachers to help students who were having trouble. I have a Bachelor's degree in Speech Language Pathology field as an Assistant. I graduated 11 years ago from University of Puerto Rico Medical Science Campus. During my bachelor's degree I took some curses of American Sign Language. From 8/1998 to 2/2002 I worked in Clinica de Terapias Pediatricas working in one on one basis with students to get them improve in the areas of speech, language and comprehension. While I was working with them I used to help the students in all school matters like math, language arts and sciences. After that time I took some time and started giving tutorials at home to students of elementary school having them improving every single area seeing results from D to B.
