Sign Language

I have a solid background in sign language. I'm currently taking more signing classes at Paradise Valley Community College. I am very knowledgeable in signing but have not gotten my rating as of yet. I have worked with deaf and blind students in Tucson AZ. I have also worked more one on one with a deaf man who worked in a facility we worked in.

It is NEVER too late to learn, nor right to learn only 1 way

I summarized my basic experience in the Policy Statement. To expand on that, I have over 20 apps on an android tablet that are for clients who need early intervention in the areas of educational subjects, speech/breathing techniques, social and emotional recognition and assistive communication. I have a child safety filter infiltrated into the device so that the clients receive only what is appropriate to their learning. They cannot access the settings on the device, nor the regular web. I honor parents' input on what they think is appropriate for their child.
I utilize kinesthetic learning and encourage parental involvement within the tutoring sessions.

I began signing at the age of 4, just home signs. In first-third grades my teachers taught us different songs and in sign language and I fell in love. I have been studying it ever since. Japanese: I studied Japanese for four semesters in college, and continue studying on my own. I plan to get my bachelor's degree in Japanese. I practice speaking Japanese once a week with a native speaker on skype. French: I studied French for four years in high school and absolutely loved it. ASL: I learned ASL in college for two semesters, and continue to study it. I teach my co-workers once a week, and have interacted with deaf customers in a customer service environment.

From June of 2005 till January of 2009 I was homeschooling a family of 5 children everyday. I taught them all their basic curriculum as well as art, music, p.e., cooking, Spanish, sign language, health, and safety. When they needed help, I tutored them until they understood the material. From January of 2009 till May of 2009 I student taught in a 5th grade classroom at Aire Libre Elementary School in the Paradise Valley School District.
