I love to help children and adults learn and understand course material. I believe teaching is a form of behavioral modification and also adhere to the rule, "if the student has not learned, than the teacher has not taught". Every child has a unique learning style and it becomes the teacher's responsibility to adapt to each child's learning needs. Basically my teaching style changes for each person I interact with. The tools I use in tutoring include the following: visual aids, analogies, improving literacy (vocabulary), projects, presentations, etc.

I love teaching and working with all age groups. I am patient and easy going. I believe all children can learn, but each does so differently. My goal is to find the best way for each individual. This often entails different approaches at times. I provide mainly a constructivist and sometimes "expert" (focus on facts) approach to learning. However, I have found that a variety of styles may be needed to help a student learn. I believe in using a variety of learning materials to help reach students: such as audio, visual or other technology available that may help them be successful. If students have the appropriate atmosphere and materials they need, I believe they will be successful.

After graduating from high school as valedictorian, I earned a Zoology BS and a Studio Art BA from SUNY Oswego, successfully completing English composition, speech, visual arts, biology, zoology, chemistry, Spanish, and calculus II courses, and graduated with a 3.76 GPA. Prior, I had taken and earned over a 90% in algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and AP calculus. While completing an MFA from WCSU, I began 3 years of service as a tutor with NY GEAR UP of The Research Foundation of SUNY, providing academic assistance to students, grades 9-12th in core and non-core subjects, as well as Regents, SAT, and ACT exam prep.
