Sign Language is one of my top subjects! I have a B.A. in ASL. I was taught by Deaf professors and have many Deaf friends. I have worked as a Deaf advocate and am aware of not only the language but the culture, history, and social issues in the Deaf community.

I obtained my Associates in ASL then went on to my Bachelors in ASL. I plan to pursue a Masters in Social Work for Deaf and HH from Gallaudet University. I have taken several summer classes at Gallaudet to immerse myself in the Deaf world. I worked as a Deaf advocate in upstate NY and maintain advocacy ties within the Deaf community. I served as Vice President of Alpha Mu Gamma which is an honors society for foreign language. I was inducted due to my achievements in ASL. I am very passionate about ASL and the Deaf community. I spent a semester observing ASL classrooms with the goal to analyze the difference between hearing teachers and Deaf teachers. ASL Certified Tutor

I had excelled in my first American Sign Language class in the 10th grade and proceeded to take the progressive courses that my high school offered. I also took a Psychology course and graduated with an Advanced Diploma in 2005. Immediately following graduation, I enrolled at Germanna Community College and became certified in American Sign Language in 2009 and in 2010, became certified as a Paraprofessional Counselor. I've completed a 225 hour internship at the disability Resource Center under the supervision of their Deaf and Hard of Hearing Coordinator. A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching is an extremely important job that must be handled with care and concern for the student. I firmly believe it is important to adapt to the students individual learning style and habits, therefore, my style is to adjust to the best method necessary in order to achieve success while learning. Many students are visual learners and prefer a hands on experience, whereas others could prefer oral, written or other teaching techniques in order to process the information.
