A Little Bit About Me...

I have been involved in various aspects of teaching and tutoring for the past 14 years. I have tutored students one-on-one for reading, writing, and math, and have taught private music lessons for voice (since 2005), violin (since 2005), and piano (since 2004). I also taught fourth grade in an elementary school. I have taught children to read before kindergarten (one fluent by age 2-3, one fluent by age 3-4).

French teacher, Piano teacher

I have been teaching piano in France for 4 years, and now 1 year in the U.S. I have never taught French but now my level in English is getting better, I would be able to teach French without problems. Piano is one of my top subjects! I have been playing piano since 2001, and spent time as a piano teacher in 2011 before relocating for school.

I have experience teaching children ages 4-6, including both neurotypical and autism-spectrum children. I also have informally instructed college-aged individuals whose first language was not English on the proper use of various English grammar structures. I enjoying tutoring all subjects, but Spanish is certainly my passion. I develop new lessons for each meeting based on the needs of the client. I am flexible (but not lenient), and I can teach using conventional or non-conventional methods depending on what works for the client. I know that different people learn in different ways. I personally learn through writing - but I know there are auditory, active and visual learners. I am not rigid, and I believe that allows me to be a much better fit for my clients, and helps improve their confidence and leads to a greater likelihood of success. I have worked with college students in the past, working with comprehensive learning and mathematics. I learned that each student understands in their own personal way; some learn by seeing something concrete and for others it is working through the steps in the problem that helps them understand. I have also had the experience of teaching a freshman seminar class where the focus was finding the students strong point or drive and having them research their major or likes to find what job fields might fit them well.
