Working with children of all ages has taught me just how important education is. Reading and writing is especially important and they will need it in their everyday life. A Little Bit About Me...

Once I am assigned a child I initally spend time going over a typical homework assignment to see where they are having some trouble. I get them to read out loud to me to see what their level of reading is. Some kids have problems sounding out the words or with simple rules of grammar. Once I see where they are at then I start bringing in some workbooks to help them in that particular area and apply that to their homework.
Along with my educational background I was a Girl Scout Troup leader for three years and a volunteer for the American Lung Association and American Heart Association. I enjoy working with kids and contacted Barbara Kline of the Utica School District and started working in the Tutoring program with her for four years. This December I will graduate with a BA in English Adolescence Education. My 3.95 GPA shows my drive for academic excellence and passion for knowledge. My writing, reading, research, and critical analysis skills have been honed through my studies. Furthermore, my experience outside my college courses have taught me the skills necessary to teaching. I have been a teacher assistant for the past two years. I worked at a school with special education students who needed much one-on-one help.
