I have a BA in English and a dual MA in English Literature and Teaching of Writing from the University of Colorado at Denver. Since graduating from the University of Albuquerque, I have worked in the New Mexico Governor's Office and been a guide for a Santa Fe outdoor museum. I also worked at the History Library, which is part of the Museum of New Mexico's Palace of the Governors Museum. In 1993, I was trained in English as a Second Language by Literacy Volunteers of America. I taught English in Japan in 1995. I volunteered as a teacher with the Emily Griffith Opportunity School's ESL program for three years. I have had numerous private ESL students over the past 17 years. Most recently, I spent five months tutoring a German couple in English. I now help two Chinese American boys with their reading and arithmetic.
