As a graduate with a BS degree in Elementary Education, I have gained knowledge in the practice of teaching elementary school. I have been able to observe classrooms as well as student teach. I was able to put my knowledge to use while I student taught by planning all lessons, implementing fun and relevant activities as well as integrating subjects. A Little Bit About Me...

I began 'teaching' as the head wakeboarding instructor at Coble Ski School in Lillington, NC, when I was a junior in high school. Shortly thereafter I took a position working at a beach resort in Pensacola, FL, where I spent an entire summer instructing surfing, kayaking and sailing. At Duke I tutored during each of my four years, either biweekly at a local Durham elementary school or at the Emily K Family Life Center. It is there where I tutored once weekly as a senior, up until I graduated in May. I have tutored in all subjects and all ages up through 22.

As the child of a school system administrative professional, I have always spent extra time in the school environment. As a high school freshman I began to tutor elementary school students based on the needs highlighted by their teachers. I spent a lot of time working one on one with English as a secound language students. I assisted with their writting, reading, and basic math skills. Additionally I work particularly well with withdrawn children who need special attention.
