Piano is one of my top subjects! I taught beginners as young as 5 in the past, and I myself have been playing the piano for 14 years - since I was eight :) So I know very well what would help minds and fingers of any age learn a new instrument!

For tutoring, I prefer face-to-face lessons, because it makes it easier for me to gauge how well the student is understanding the material. I try to explain concepts in a variety of ways to find out how the student learns best, whether through repetition, example, metaphor, application... whatever works! I have tutored kids with all kinds of needs and a few with pretty short attention spans :) For piano lessons, I would use the Alfred library of teaching materials, as that is how I was taught and it works wonders on new learners! In addition to reading music, I would focus on performance techniques and theory as well.

Since receiving a Bachelor's in English and Writing, I have developed many diverse skills in addition to those I learned in school. While working as an editor for a publishing company, I was able to hone my ability to write and communicate clearly through the written word. I have also studied music and art from a young age including such subject areas as piano, voice, flute, cello, ceramics, and photography. I have also worked in many environments that required knowledge and use of math skills. I also earned a Master's in education and have worked with children who have disabilities in a recreational environment. A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate of RIT I have worked as a lab technician in both corporate and academic settings. After obtaining my Masters Degree in Secondary Education from LeMoyne College, I taught for Syracuse City schools district for 18 months and Hillside Children's Center for 6 months. I have also taught summer school chemistry for OCM Boces. I have taught Living Environment(Biology), Earth Science, Environmental Science, General Science and Chemistry.
As a secondary science teacher I believe that in order to be affective we must provide classroom stucture and consistency, use different methods of presentation to meet different learning styles, integrate technology that students are familiar with and develop positive repoire with students and parents.

After earning my Masters Degree in Secondary Education from Le Moyne College in 2006 I obtained my first teaching job with the Syracuse City School District. I taught various sciences to high school students in an alternative program. In the summer of 2008 I taught chemistry to summer school students for Boces. In 2009 I taught various sciences to students at Hillside Children’s Center in Auburn, NY.
