Genuine, personal interest in the child; establishing rapport; establishing the student's mastery level, then building from there (instead of an arbitrary line which creates anxiety); affirmation of every step of progress/success; recognition but careful use of errors in non-judgmental, constructive correction; ease in backing up for review when needed; positive verbal and behavioral reinforcement to the student, including reports to parents about same, all these are things that come to mind. I don't think I have really developed a "unique style" by only teaching a year or so. I am a very patient person and I really like to see the "sparkle" in a students eye, when they truly understand something for the 1st time. I like to explain a concept and then give the student a problem and see if they get it. If not, I will go over as many times necessary...until they understand the material.
I have a recent Bachelor's in Accounting, as well as 15+ years of accounting experience in both private and non-profit settings. While working at Thornhill Education Center, I had the opportunity to work with students and help teach GED classes. My main focus was math. I also had the opportunity to teach a level 1 accounting class for community education.

I have taken many courses over an extended period of time. In 2002 I entered the Surgical Technology program at Jefferson Technical College; I managed a 4.00 and missed only a couple of days. During the many testing phases of the program I stayed and helped get other students through the program, I was commended on my drive and determination to help other students, all while maintaining my grade average. I pulled down some of the highest scores in the programs history.
