I've been playing music since I was 14. I taught myself how to play every brass instrument plus tenor/alto saxophone. By the time I was ready for college I had several options thanks to band. Music has helped open so many doors for me and I would love to spread my knowledge to your child and help them to achieve their goals! Music can also help your child in other subjects they might have trouble concentrating in. So not only will your child come out playing their instrument better but their class work will improve too!
I specialize in teaching children 6-12 but can just about show anyone how to play an instrument. I start with teaching them to read music and then we graduate to learning to play music.

I have earned a B.A in Music Education.In addition I have extensive grammatical skills due to writing research papers, essays and reports in various areas of study.During the last ten years I have traveled throughout Europe and the United States as an Educator and Clinician. In addition I have been Adjudicator for the State of Illinois' State High School Band Competition for Symphony,Concert Band,String Ensembles, and Jazz Bands.

A Little Bit About Me...

Because each student has a unique personality and way he learns, I believe in making lesson plans that will draw in the different types of learners: hands on, experience, visual, and aural. When I teach individual students, I can find out what that student needs in order to learn the best, and I teach to her strengths and work through her weaknesses. All students deserve to understand what is going on in the classroom and I firmly believe in individual help. My approach also includes student interaction in which the students have a voice and opinion on class experiences. I believe that this approach helps students think outside the box and teaches them to have an opinion and to think critically.
