Myriad of subjects can be covered

I have worked with children in one role or another for the past ten years. Last semester I student taught 8th grade American History in Fort Collins and completed my social studies licensure. I then substitute taught a myriad of subjects from English to Math, grades pre-K through 12th grade. Before that I spent four years going through CSU's education department and semesters with students ranging 6th grade to 12th grade.
I like to make connections between what is relevant in the world right now to the subject matter.

A Little Bit About Me...

I bring a lot of energy to the classroom and ensure that I am over-prepared for each lesson. I enjoy involving every student in a classroom setting and encourage an active, open learning environment. I also believe it is a very valuable experience to be able to work with students one-on-one. I like to work with each student to figure out his or her individual learning style and needs. Though it may not be applicable for this position, I try to plan group activities when possible, so that students can learn from one another and help each other work through problems.

I love to be hands-on in my tutoring. I feel that problem solving is the key to understanding a topic. If you can work through a question and understand the steps involved, then the knowledge of the subject is definate. I would love to help your child obtain a high degree of success in their studies. I have obtained very high marks in my college career and hope that the passion for science that I possess can be felt and passed on to your child.
As a college graduate I was motivated to find a job and begin my career. A Little Bit About Me...

I earned all A's in my graded graduate courses at Teachers College, Columbia University. I believe this reflects my ability to study, learn, research and write research papers. My Master of Arts degree is in Psychology in Education. The courses for this program were in Developmental Psychology and Measurement and Evaluation. Developmental Psychology includes cognitive and language growth. Measurement and Evaluation includes the assessment of individuals, groups, programs and products. I have teaching experience with kindergarten through high school. I home schooled my daughter in 2nd, 3rd, 7th and 8th grades. She scored very high on her SATs (790 out of 800 in Critical Reading.) I believe that my teaching style is one of patience, encouragement, along with being laid-back, considerate and easy-going. I want to take the time to make sure a subject is well understood.
