My comments on tutoring Painting : I have been teaching Fine Art (Drawing , Painting and Art History) in a private homeschool program and in my home for 18 years . I have also taught young children and adults privately. I am a professional artist who works regularly by commission (you may see my work at http://LisaWrightsArt.com). I have a BA in Fine Arts from Mount Holyoke College where I specialized in Studio Art and Art History.I love teaching and helping bring out the natural artistic talent, which I believe everyone has, out of my students

I have been teaching Art and French in a private Homeschool Program for 18 years . My Art classes have included Drawing 1, Drawing 2, Painting, Combined media, and Advanced Portfolio Classes. I have taught younger children, starting at the age of 5 both Art and french as well as adults. In the program where I teach, I have primarily taught high school French levels 1-4. I also studied French and Art while living in Paris, France my junior year of college. I lived with a French family and worked as their au pair . I also took classes at Ecole de Beaux Arts and Ecole do Louvre during this time. I have continued to speak i and teach French during most of my career as a teacher.

College freshman with a passion for art, music, and lit.

I prefer one-on-one tutoring in a public area. I am a fun , encouraging tutor in the elementary subject areas; and am enthusiastic about art and music for all ages. I prefer an encouraging approach with lots of rewards and positive feedback; and if things get too rough, I change my style up a bit to accomodate the student's needs.
I am a highscool graduate and am currently taking college classes. I have tutored many elementary age students in elementary subject areas; especially literature, writing, grammar, art, and music. I have tutored high school age students in music and art. I have also tutored middle school age students in music and art.

I believe in an interactive approach to tutoring – where both tutor and student can be involved in the paper and work together. I am here to guide your child, to help them learn formal or informal writing so that they will not need me anymore. I approach each student differently, changing my tutoring based on their needs. I believe that my position’s purpose is to not only help your child with writing, but also to relieve the stress that can come with it. I support a fun atmosphere while tutoring, but also a disciplined one. I hope to bring my patience and positive nature to the session and to your child. My goal is to allow your child to grow and learn, while guiding them.
As of May 2010, I will hold a Bachelor’s Degree with a major in writing and a minor in literature from Christopher Newport University. I have worked in the on-campus writing center for a year, where I fou ... read more

In the past year I have graduated with a double major and passed the Society of Actuaries' Probability exam. My experience in finding effective study techniques and quickly understanding new material allows me to explain subjects to others as directly as possible. I am determined to make the most of each hour of every day.
Visual explanation and simple repetition are the most successful tools to help a child learn. I am patient and calm with students but not afraid of discipline. Before college I was a summer camp counselor for three years and part-time babysitter; jobs that taught me how to work with children. I hope to improve a child's life through improving education.

Upon graduation from school, I moved to Guatemala, where I was an English teacher to Spanish-speaking students for a year. While there, I was able to work on both my Spanish and teaching skills. I have since been able to help English speakers enhance their Spanish proficiency State-side. I am currently working on my Masters in Counseling.
Each student is different, so addressing how best to teach each one will vary. I have found that the key to helping language students learn is first finding what will motivate them to learn. Learning a new language opens up a whole new world to the student, one they have never known before. Building off of a student's extra-curricular interests- sports, music, art, fashion, or anything else- transforms learning a language from repeating verb charts to becoming more apt to pursuing his interests in an international way.

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe in using multiple teaching strategies that encompass all the different learning curves. I believe in using many examples such as hands on activities, listening skill development, study skills techniques, think pair share, jig saw method, and the scientific approach. I also highly believe in positive reinforcement. Praising and encouraging a child for job well done, and supporting and scaffolding a child who needs encouragement, giving a child small successes can lead to bigger successes which will make a difference in a students academic life.
As an early childhood educator, I have a passion for the education of young children. I strive for success in creating a love and a desire for learning in every academic environment. I am certified in early childhood education and have seven years teaching experience in both the private and public sectors. I have great ref ... read more

I am a very motivating person and tend to use humor as a method of teaching. I teach to and with the child and never down to him/her. I break large components into their simplest forms so that a child learns to take things one step at a time and not feel overwhelmed. I make the learning relevant to what the child is interested in or knows about so that he/she can be more engaged in the learning process. We set the goal-a reasonable one yet with high expectations and together we achieve it.
For the past ten years, I have been teaching High School English. I have taught grades 9-12 in Literature, Composition and Standards of Learning in preparation for the state exams. I have taught inclusion classes involving students with numerous learning styles and have always met and exceeded the expectations of their parents.
