A Little Bit About Me...

I provide a structured environment for students to achieve their full potential in subjects that may, at first, appear intimidating. I have high expectations and encourage independent, creative thought. Problem solving and reasoning skills are empahasized. Instead of just giving answers, I guide students to participate in the learning process and discover their own answers.
Most recently, I was a high school math teacher for 3 years specializing in PreAlgebra, Algebra I, Geometry, and Astronomy. I taught regular, advanced, and special education classes. I strongly believe that students grow and excel when they are given challenges that are just beyond their current level of understanding. My experience comes from earning a bachelor degree in Computer Studies. I have learned extensive grammatical skills due to writing many research papers. I am currently a graduate student in Systems Information Technology, and am also working on a diploma for medical transcriptionist. While serving in the military I was involved in volunteer work rescuing animals, held a position as Secretary for the American International Women's Club and am now a member of the American Legion Region eight. I am also volunteering this week for the West Fest as a ticket agent.
I am a self starter, and am good at trying to help someone to see what their potential can be. I am a life-long learner and believe education is what makes people successful in today's society.
