My easy going nature and fun personality allows me to make learning interesting. I have always believed that the best way for someone to learn is to put the information into terms that are understandable to them. In the past I have used illustrations, acted out scenes from battles, utilized initialisms, and made up songs to help students learn concepts. Connections between the content and familiar concepts are essential, and thus I find it very important to get to know the student and how they learn in order to best help them. My goal is to make sure that all my students are able to reach their educational goals, and ultimately by the end of our sessions my students will be able to teach the information to someone else. I love teaching and working with all types of children. I think children learn in different ways and have to conform to their teaching style. I was a slow reader but have learned ways to make reading fun. I hope to make reading fun for the child. I want the children to meet thier full potential of what they are capeable of. I want to make a difference and start making a reader today. As a college graduate I have been driven to do my best to make sure every child is given the opportunity to have the very best education. I have earned my Bachelor degree in early childhood but do not hold a teacher's certificate. I have had extensitve training in edcuation courses, and love helping children read. Seeing the look and smile on the face of a student that finally grasps a concept, or realizes they have just read on their own for the first time, OH What a Feeling!!! I take each child as their own individual knowing they have their own needs in learning a subject. I teach in several different ways as to ensure the child grasps what they need. I see children today as my future for tomorrow, so helping them and making a difference in their lives will make a difference in mine. I have not forgotten any individual I have helped to this day. After graduating in 1996, I opened my own tutoring service in Dickson, TN. I tutored individuals from public schools and home school in Math, Reading, and several other subjects needed until 2001.
