I have taught high school for the past 5 years. Primarily the following subjects, algebra 1 and 2, geometry, math models, pre calculus, and calculus. I also have a degree in mathematics from Abilene Christian university. Greatly enjoy tutoring. I have chosen to stay home with my kids and not teach full time. I like to help the student understand the subject better and keep them interested in the subject. As a student I was always helping my friends and brothers with their school work, especially math. While in graduate school working on my Masters degree I tutored for the athletic department and even tutored some of my classmates who were college professors working on their PhD's. Instructor vs. student. I love giving the student a problem to see if he/she can think his/her way through it after we have discussed the proper method to use to solve the problem. I find that if students are just simply told how to do things and shown, but never required to think about it for themselves, then the students will not be able to understand how to do the problems or think for themselves. It is important to allow the students time to put the effort into thinking about a problem without having someone tell them what to think at every step. I have been tutoring students in all levels of mathematics since I was a freshman in high school. I like to go through the problem with the student. I will go through the steps as necessary and I like for the student to ask questions along the way. Got a degree at Texas Tech in mathematics with a minor in Mechanical Engineering. I have more experience with helping others who know what they are doing but needed that little nudge in understanding a certain subject. I specialize more in applied math rather than proofs or pure mathematics. I don't do a lot of tutoring nowadays but I understand how college is and how college students work. Take this advice: studying a lot is the way to really succeed and even the most brilliant students have to do it (try studying for actuarial tests and you'll find this out real quick!).

Since graduation college, I have been employed in the private sector of environmental chemistry laboratories. Part of my responsibilities include teaching and training new employees. This includes both the physical and chemical concepts as well as the math required to report results as produced by meters and instrumentation.
